Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, confirmed today, Sunday, that food control campaigns and monitoring of strategic goods and markets have been intensified to ensure the quality of services provided to citizens. Inspections were conducted on municipal bakeries, markets, and public shops across several centers and cities, carried out by the Supply Directorate under the supervision of Accountant Adel Al-Habet, Deputy Minister of Supply.

The governor stated that the efforts of the food control campaigns resulted in issuing 148 varied reports including violations in bakeries, markets, unknown source goods, and expired food products in the markets. In bakeries, 84 reports were issued including (47 for weight shortage, 16 for uncleanliness, 9 for specifications violations, 7 for lack of price display, 3 for not giving receipts, and one report for lack of scales). In markets and commercial shops, the campaigns seized expired and unknown source food, household, and commercial packages.

Seizure of Frozen Meat from Unknown Sources

Reports were also issued in several cities as follows: In Hamoul, frozen meat and unknown spices were seized; in Desouk, 670 pieces of expired sweets and snacks, butter, and processed meats without data were seized; in Qaleen, 13 reports were issued for not displaying prices and 50 kg of milk without data were seized; in Baltim, 2400 bottles of carbonated water from unknown sources, pesticides, brake oils, and expired cigarettes were seized.

Seizure of Locally Slaughtered Meat Outside Official Slaughterhouses

In Bella center, locally slaughtered meat outside slaughterhouses was seized; in Riyadh, locally sourced and frozen meat from unknown sources was seized. In Bandar Kafr El-Sheikh and Desouk, reports were issued against supply agents and supermarkets for violations including closure and failure to display prices. In the fuel and petroleum sector, reports were issued for failure to display prices and tampering with petroleum records in several warehouses and fuel stations.

Strict Market Oversight

The Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh confirmed that these food control campaigns are part of strict market oversight to protect citizens from commercial fraud and to ensure the availability of essential goods with high quality and reasonable prices. He emphasized zero tolerance for any violation affecting citizens’ food security or their supply rights, stressing continuous directives to the Supply Directorate and executive bodies to achieve full market discipline and enforce the law firmly and fairly.
