Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, is participating on behalf of the European Union in the “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit” scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a press statement issued by the European Union and distributed by its embassy in Cairo, Costa said that tomorrow in Egypt marks the beginning of a long path towards peace. The international community is united in its commitment to a future where Palestinians and Israelis live side by side in peace and security.
The President of the European Council added that for the first time in a long time, there is real hope: hope for the release of all hostages, a ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid access to Gaza, hope for a just and lasting peace, and a brighter future based on the two-state solution.
