The General Security Sector, under the supervision of Major General Mahmoud Abu Omra, Assistant Minister of Interior, in cooperation with the Narcotics and Unlicensed Weapons and Ammunition Control Sector, and in coordination with the concerned ministry agencies, succeeded in arresting members of criminal cells specialized in smuggling and trafficking drugs and unlicensed firearms across several governorates. The operation resulted in the death of 4 highly dangerous criminals following an exchange of gunfire with police forces in Qalyubia.

Information and investigations confirmed that criminal cells in several governorates, including highly dangerous criminals, were smuggling quantities of drugs, pills, and unlicensed firearms in preparation for trafficking.

After legal procedures were completed, they were targeted in coordination with the Central Security Sector. As the forces approached, the criminals opened fire on them, and the forces returned fire.

The confrontation resulted in the death of 4 highly dangerous criminals, who had been sentenced to prison and life imprisonment for crimes including murder, drug trafficking, firearms offenses, armed robbery, and resisting authorities in Qalyubia Governorate, and the arrest of the remaining members of those cells.

They were found in possession of more than 359 kilograms of various narcotics (hashish, hydro, cocaine, heroin, voodoo, shabu, tramadol powder), 250,000 drug pills, 62 various firearms, and a quantity of ammunition.

The estimated financial value of the seized drugs exceeds 106 million Egyptian pounds. Legal procedures were taken and the suspects were referred to the public prosecution for investigation.
