German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced his travel to Egypt on Monday to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which includes about 20 world leaders, where an official ceasefire agreement in Gaza will be signed.
A spokesperson for the German government said in a statement on Sunday that Germany will commit to implementing the peace plan, initially focusing on maintaining a stable ceasefire and providing humanitarian aid. The Chancellor will reaffirm this commitment during his trip on Monday.
Egypt will host an international summit tomorrow, Monday, in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh to finalize an agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza, attended by world leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump.
