The office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the Prime Minister will travel to Egypt to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, where leaders are expected to sign a US-Egypt-Qatar mediated agreement aimed at ending the Gaza war.

The first phase of the plan is scheduled to begin with the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners by Monday, which Britain described as a “historic turning point” after two years since the war began.

Starmer is expected to call for continued international coordination to implement the next phase, which includes deploying a mission to monitor the ceasefire and forming a transitional government in Gaza.

Starmer will reaffirm the “steadfast support” provided by Britain to help ceasefire efforts and deliver humanitarian aid.
