The Mersal Foundation, a member of the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, emphasized on World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, the importance of raising community awareness and providing psychological support services to all groups as an essential part of comprehensive healthcare.

The foundation announced that by the end of last September, it had provided approximately 6,260 psychological support sessions benefiting 1,403 cases, in addition to admitting 36 cases to psychiatric hospitals.

In this context, Heba Rashid, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Mersal Foundation, stated that “mental health care is no less important than physical health care,” noting that the foundation has implemented an integrated mental health project over the past years.

She added that Mersal operates free specialized mental health clinics in the areas of Maadi, Dokki, and Nasr City, serving various groups, which has helped thousands of cases reach advanced stages of recovery and psychological stability.

Dr. Israa Samir, Medical Director at Mersal Foundation, explained that psychological support services are regularly provided by a specialized medical team that includes psychological and medical follow-up and medication dispensing.

Dr. Israa confirmed that the foundation aims to increase the number of therapy sessions in the coming period, contributing to integrating mental health services within the comprehensive medical care system provided by Mersal in Egypt.
