Recent reports, including one published by the American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal,” indicate that the United States and Saudi Arabia are nearing a historic agreement that would allow American semiconductor manufacturers to export advanced, high-performance chips to the Kingdom.
This agreement represents a pivotal strategic step aimed at enabling Riyadh to build a massive infrastructure for artificial intelligence. The core importance of the deal lies in the primary use of these chips, which are among the most in-demand globally, in huge data centers dedicated by the Kingdom to training complex AI models.
This move is part of the ambitious “Vision 2030” strategy aimed at transforming the Kingdom into a leading regional and global hub for modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
The plan is to rely on the high-performance chips produced by American technology companies, primarily Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), to power Saudi government AI initiatives.
Sources indicate that the agreement is not merely a commercial deal but a strategic step to solidify cooperation between the two countries in the high-tech sector. For Saudi Arabia, this cooperation grants access to critical expertise necessary to achieve its technological goals.
In this context, reports mention that the new Saudi company “Humain,” state-backed and focused on AI, has already begun constructing its first data centers and plans to operate them by early 2026, relying on chips imported from the United States.
Estimates suggest that the first phase of the agreement could allow Humain to purchase up to 18,000 of Nvidia’s latest chips.
