Dubai World Trade Centre, one of the three chambers operating under Dubai Chambers, has opened its first representative office in the Scandinavian countries in Stockholm, Sweden. The office aims to strengthen ties between the business communities of Dubai and Sweden and enhance bilateral trade and investment partnerships.

The opening was attended by Benjamin Dousa, Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade; Ghasaq Yousef Abdullah Shaheen, UAE Ambassador to Sweden; and Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers.

The new office is part of Dubai World Trade Centre’s efforts to achieve the goals of the “Dubai Global” initiative, which aims to launch 50 international representative offices by 2030. The initiative seeks to enhance Dubai’s role as a leading global business hub, attract foreign direct investment to the emirate, and support the expansion of Dubai companies into 30 priority global markets.

An Important Step

Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, said: “The opening of the representative office in Sweden is an important step in strengthening strategic partnerships between Dubai and international markets and creating more business and investment opportunities. The new office will focus on attracting Swedish companies to Dubai and showcasing the diverse opportunities available in the emirate.”

The opening comes amid growing bilateral trade, with the value of non-oil trade between Dubai and Sweden reaching approximately AED 3.9 billion in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 5.3%. Reflecting increased interest from Swedish companies in doing business in Dubai, the number of active Swedish companies registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce rose to 940 by the end of the first half of 2025, with 127 new Swedish companies joining in the first six months.
