In the early hours of Friday, the Israeli army shelled the cities of Khan Younis and Gaza despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the Israeli army shelled the Katiba area in central Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, with several artillery shells, coinciding with drone flights over the city.

It added that Israeli warplanes launched a heavy airstrike in central Khan Younis at dawn.

East Gaza City also witnessed an Israeli airstrike, artillery shelling, and gunfire from helicopters.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the government officially approved U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza.

It is noted that U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night the agreement to implement the first phase of his Middle East peace plan, which includes ending the war on the Gaza Strip, Israeli army withdrawal, humanitarian aid entry, and prisoner exchange.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has committed acts described as genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 67,000 citizens and injuring about 170,000 others, mostly children and women, with famine claiming 460 lives including 154 children, according to WAFA.
