According to the US military, about 500 National Guard members are stationed in the area, and US media reported that troops were deployed in the greater Chicago area yesterday, Thursday.

The Trump administration had ordered soldiers to protect federal property and officials in Chicago, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents described as facing violent protesters.

In a post on the platform “X,” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson described the ruling as a “victory for the people of Chicago and the rule of law.”

He said: “Judge Perry echoed many points we have long repeated: Trump’s deployment is illegal, unconstitutional, dangerous, and unnecessary. There is no insurrection in Chicago. There are only good people standing up for what is right.”
