On Friday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation published a document detailing the steps to implement US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a comprehensive end to the Gaza war from the Israeli side.
According to the document, the war ends immediately upon approval by the Israeli government, suspending all military operations including air and artillery strikes and targeted operations.
The document indicated the immediate start of full humanitarian aid and relief delivery, as specified in the proposal, at least in accordance with the January 19 agreement.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation noted that the Israeli army will withdraw to the agreed lines and complete this within 24 hours of the government’s approval.
Once the Israeli army completes its withdrawal, Hamas will begin investigating the status of hostages and gather all related information.
Hamas will provide statements on the investigation results through an information exchange mechanism.
In return, Israel will provide information about Palestinian prisoners and detainees from Gaza held in Israel.
Within 72 hours, Hamas will:
- Release all living hostages, including those held by Palestinian factions in Gaza.
- Deliver the remains of deceased hostages in its possession and those held by Palestinian factions in Gaza.
- Share all information obtained related to any remaining deceased hostages through the information exchange mechanism, while Israel will provide information on the remains of deceased Gazans held in Israel.
- Establish an information exchange mechanism between both sides, via intermediaries and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to exchange information and intelligence about any deceased hostages not recovered within 72 hours or remains of Gaza residents held by Israel.
- This mechanism ensures the full and safe extraction and delivery of all hostages’ remains.
- Upon Hamas releasing all hostages, Israel will simultaneously release a corresponding number of Palestinian prisoners according to agreed lists.
- Hostages and prisoners will be exchanged according to the agreed mechanism through intermediaries and the International Committee of the Red Cross, without any public ceremonies or media coverage.
- A working group composed of representatives from the United States, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and other countries agreed upon by both parties will be formed to follow up on implementation and coordinate with both sides.
The Israeli government announced it approved early Friday the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan in Gaza, which specifically calls for Hamas to release all hostages held in the sector, alive and dead, the release of Palestinian detainees and prisoners by Israel, a ceasefire, and the entry of aid to the devastated sector.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement, “The government has just approved a framework for the release of all hostages – whether alive or dead.”
The approval of the agreement marks a key milestone toward ending the war ongoing between Israel and Hamas for two years in the besieged and devastated Palestinian sector, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and a humanitarian disaster.
