The spinal surgery team at Healthpoint Hospital and Dana Al Emarat Hospital, both part of the M42 Group, have achieved a medical milestone by performing over 70 successful surgeries to treat spinal curvature (scoliosis) over the past two years. This accomplishment underscores the institutions’ commitment to providing world-class specialized care for complex cases within the UAE, reducing the need for patients to travel abroad.
This achievement is the result of an integrated joint program involving a select group of spinal surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, physiotherapists, and nursing staff at both hospitals. They work in high coordination following a multidisciplinary approach to provide precise, safe, and comprehensive care that improves patients’ quality of life and restores their confidence and mobility. The medical team treats a wide range of complex spinal curvature cases, not limited to idiopathic scoliosis but also including neuromuscular, congenital, early onset, dysplastic cases, and rare syndromes such as osteogenesis imperfecta and Marfan syndrome.
The program offers advanced surgical options for children starting from the age of four, using growing rod techniques that allow early intervention and gradual long-term correction of the spine, a rare achievement in the region.
The program is based on a dual surgical approach proven effective in reducing operation times and minimizing blood loss.
