US President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that “no one will be forced to leave” Gaza, reiterating a promise included in his “peace plan” which Israel and Hamas agreed to in its first phase.

Trump said from the Oval Office, where he received Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, that “no one will be forced to leave. On the contrary, quite the opposite.”

Trump announced the end of the war in Gaza, affirming that “the peace we helped achieve in the Middle East will be sustainable.”

In press remarks from his White House office, Trump said Hamas lost about 70,000 fighters and that “this war needs to stop,” noting that “all countries in the region agreed on peace.”

He revealed that the release of hostages will take place on Monday or Tuesday, confirming that several countries will provide funds to rebuild Gaza.

He added that he will try to travel to the Middle East soon, where the signing ceremony of the agreement will be held in Egypt, expressing his thanks to the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their help in reaching “this wonderful outcome.”

Trump pointed out that the attack on Iran was “important to reach an agreement on Gaza,” noting that Tehran “wants to work towards peace and we will work with them.”
