Jordanian King Abdullah II said on Thursday that the ceasefire in Gaza is an important step that must lead to the end of the war “that has been ongoing for two years.”
The King said via the “X” platform: “The ceasefire in Gaza is an important step that must lead to the end of the war. It is time for our people to enjoy security and for aid to reach without restrictions.”
He added: “We appreciate the role of former US President Donald Trump in reaching the agreement and the efforts of our brothers in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey,” noting that “Jordan will remain the support for the brotherly Palestinian people in their pursuit of freedom and statehood on their national soil.”
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi welcomed the agreement on Thursday, affirming Jordan’s readiness to resume aid deliveries “to end the famine facing the Gaza Strip.”
Safadi said in a statement: “Jordan welcomes the reaching of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the agreement on mechanisms to implement its first phase, leading to the end of the war, the implementation of a prisoner exchange and withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip, and the entry of humanitarian aid.”
He added: “The Kingdom is ready to resume aid deliveries to Gaza once Israel lifts restrictions, in cooperation with brothers, the international community, and United Nations organizations.” He stressed the necessity of all efforts joining to provide sufficient and immediate humanitarian aid to end the famine facing the Strip.
The Secretary-General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, Hussein Al-Shibli, announced that “Jordan is ready to send about 3,000 food, relief, and medical trucks daily to Gaza.”
Al-Shibli told Al-Mamlaka channel that “the organization has more than 25,000 tons of basic foodstuffs, more than 20,000 tons of relief materials, and more than 15,000 tons of medical supplies, medicines, and health necessities.”
