US President Donald Trump, along with mediators, announced reaching an agreement paving the way to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas stated that the agreement includes ending the war, Israeli forces withdrawing from the Strip, allowing humanitarian aid entry, and prisoner exchanges.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations resulted in an agreement on the first phase of a ceasefire in Gaza, which includes halting military operations and releasing Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners.
In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he will hold a government meeting on Thursday to approve the agreement reached with Hamas, aiming to release hostages held in Gaza and end the two-year-long war.
Despite the announcement, Gaza’s civil defense reported that the Israeli army launched a series of airstrikes early Thursday on various areas in the Strip.
The Israeli army also warned displaced people against returning to their homes in the northern areas.
Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted on the “X” platform: “Important announcement to all Gaza Strip residents: the area north of Wadi Gaza is still considered a dangerous combat zone.” He added that army units “are still surrounding Gaza City,” confirming that returning there is “extremely dangerous,” urging residents not to approach Israeli forces’ deployment areas until further official instructions are issued.
