Lebanese President Michel Aoun met with Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary-General for Peace, Security, and Defence at the European External Action Service, at Baabda Palace.
During the meeting, President Aoun expressed Lebanon’s welcome for any support provided by the European Union to strengthen the Lebanese Army and security forces to extend their authority over all Lebanese territories. He also requested the EU’s participation in monitoring the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for May.
Meanwhile, former MP Hadi Habib confirmed after meeting President Aoun that the parliamentary elections will take place on time and that the President is reassured about the situation’s trajectory.
