The head of the Defense Committee in the Russian parliament, Andrei Kartapolov, said on Wednesday that Russia will respond strongly if the United States supplies Ukraine with “Tomahawk” missiles.

Kartapolov added: “We know these missiles well, how they fly, and how they can be shot down; we dealt with them in Syria, so there is nothing new,” according to the Russian media agency.

He confirmed that “the problems will only be faced by those who supply and use them.”

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov confirmed that Moscow will reciprocate if the European Union imposes restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats within the Union.

Ryabkov told reporters: “They must understand that we will respond in kind to every step: if they impose travel restrictions, we will impose similar restrictions on the travel of representatives of unfriendly countries involved in this measure, if it comes to that,” adding: “I don’t understand why they need this or who benefits from it,” according to Russia Today network.

He continued: “Those who raise and discuss these matters have become unsure how to behave in a dirty way… We can live without any permission or bans from them. In the end, this does not affect real life.”

On Tuesday, the British newspaper Financial Times quoted sources saying that EU countries bypassed Hungary’s veto right and agreed to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats within the Union.
