Zelensky described Moscow’s strategy as “simply: dividing Europe,” emphasizing that the goal is “to do exactly the opposite.” He recalled that Ukrainian soldiers were sent to Denmark to assist Copenhagen after mysterious drones were detected in its airspace, stating:
“This is just the beginning, the first step towards building an anti-drone wall to protect all of Europe.”
This refers to his country’s development of unique drones in the continent, more than three years after the Russian invasion began.
Meanwhile, Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă, whose country has also faced drone incursions, warned that his forces “will shoot down any new drone violating its airspace.”
The European Commission intends to grant Ukraine a loan of 140 billion euros by swapping frozen Russian funds resulting from due assets with a debt contract specially designed with Euroclear, the Belgian financial institution that holds these deposits. EU officials see this as a smart solution to avoid confiscation, which could constitute a breach of international law.
