China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, affirmed that the United States’ repeated abuse of the veto power has led to a gross violation of international law and the Security Council’s inability to take any measures to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, Fu referred to Washington’s veto on September 18 against a draft resolution demanding Israel lift restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza: “The Security Council has repeatedly sought to take action, but the United States has strongly obstructed it repeatedly,” stressing that militarizing the aid distribution mechanism and attacks on civilians seeking aid and humanitarian workers are unacceptable.

Fu again called on Israel to halt all military operations in Gaza and stop its dangerous plan to control the Strip, urging the international community to unite efforts and take concrete and irreversible measures to implement the two-state solution.

China has repeatedly affirmed its support for the just cause of the Palestinian people, calling on the international community to accelerate a comprehensive and just resolution of the issue.
