Peskov told journalist Pavel Zarubin that the negotiations have “stopped.”

Peskov said, “They do not want to continue the negotiations, and Kyiv does not want to try to reach an agreement, and the outlook for continuing these negotiations is unclear.”

He added, “Nevertheless, we are quietly doing our work, and we are open to dialogue and communication with all countries.”

It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, and then with Zelensky and several European leaders in Washington on August 18.

After the meetings, Trump announced that work is underway to prepare bilateral meetings, while Russia confirmed its readiness to hold talks with the Ukrainian side provided there is a substantive agenda for discussions.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that Moscow is open to negotiations to address the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
