Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, recently inaugurated the first three outlets of the consumer complexes affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries after their development in Cairo Governorate. He opened the Girls’ College branch, as well as the Sayeda Zeinab and Al-Amiriya branches via video conference, marking the launch of the largest government retail chain named “Carry On”. The event was attended by Dr. Bahaa El-Ghanam, Head of Egypt’s Future Sustainable Development Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, Major General Walid Abu El-Majd, Deputy Minister of Supply, and Dr. Eng. Alaa Nagi, Chairman of the Holding Company for Food Industries.
The outlets affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries, the supply grocers, and subsidized goods distribution points such as the “Gam’eyti Project” aim to provide goods of quality and reasonable prices to citizens, in line with the political leadership’s directives to continuously supply food products to the public.
The initiative to launch the largest government retail chain aims to restructure and modernize retail outlets nationwide, aligning with modern standards in displaying goods and services and offering them to consumers at fair prices and high-quality specifications. It targets the rehabilitation and development of 40,000 outlets and sales points across various governorates, including updating the general appearance, improving management and pricing systems, and applying digital transformation in transactions within these outlets. The plan includes converting 30,000 supply grocers into civilized supermarkets, upgrading 8,500 outlets from the “Gam’eyti Project” into hypermarkets, and fully updating 1,060 outlets affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries within the “Carry On” system.
