Dr. Ashraf El-Shehy, Vice President of the Homeland Protectors Party and former Minister of Higher Education, affirmed that his decision to run for the party’s presidency was not a pursuit of position but to achieve an ambitious program he hoped to realize. He noted a great alignment in ideas and visions with Team Mohamed Abbas Helmy.

El-Shehy added during his speech at the party’s extraordinary general conference to elect a new president that he prioritized the public interest, withdrew his candidacy, and supported Team Abbas Helmy to assume the party’s leadership, confirming ongoing cooperation between them to serve the party’s goals.

He explained that he had not been a member of any political party until three or four years ago when he joined Homeland Protectors, convinced by its true role in supporting the state. He held the position of Secretary of the Education and Scientific Research Secretariat and then Vice President of the party, emphasizing that education and scientific research issues are a personal priority.

El-Shehy pointed out that he had avoided executive positions, but responsibility pursued him, leading prestigious universities and holding the Ministry of Higher Education portfolio. He affirmed that Homeland Protectors is among the leading parties supporting state plans for development and human capacity building, causes he identifies with.

He continued that he feels daily happiness in his role in building people and the future through education and scientific research that develops all aspects of life, noting that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi believes in the importance of scientific research.

El-Shehy saluted Team Galal El-Hreidy, affirming that his achievements will remain a historic milestone credited to him forever, and also thanked the party leadership.
