Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem, Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during his visit to Port Sudan.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the deep bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, reflected in Egypt’s support for Sudan amid the delicate circumstances the country is going through. He confirmed Egypt’s active involvement in various efforts aimed at a ceasefire in Sudan and achieving a humanitarian truce to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Dr. Abdel-Aati also highlighted Egypt’s positive response to efforts to end the siege of Al-Fashir city, affirming Egypt’s solidarity with Sudan and its support for its stability, security, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions, foremost among them the Sudanese Armed Forces.
He expressed his aspiration to continue developing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, noting the great economic and commercial potentials both countries enjoy, and pointing to the facilities Egypt provides to Sudanese brothers residing in Egypt.
Regarding water security, both sides confirmed during the meeting their unified stance as Nile Basin countries and stressed the necessity of full compliance with international law in the Eastern Nile Basin, and total rejection of unilateral measures on the Nile River.
