Jordan continues its war on drugs through internal efforts led by the Public Security Directorate to raid drug dealers’ dens, as well as through the Jordanian Armed Forces thwarting smuggling attempts across the northern and eastern borders adjacent to Syria.

In the latest developments, the spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate, Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, announced that the Anti-Narcotics Department staff conducted weeks of investigations and information gathering regarding a criminal cell linked to regional drug trafficking gangs. It was found that the cell was storing large quantities of narcotics in Madaba Governorate for sale and distribution.

He added that after completing data collection and identifying suspects and storage locations, the security force carried out simultaneous raids resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals from the cell and the seizure of 160 cannabis joints, half a kilogram of cocaine, in addition to quantities of narcotic pills.

Al-Sartawi confirmed that investigations are ongoing, stressing that security efforts continue to combat smuggling and distribution networks to protect Jordanian society.
