The extraordinary general conference of the Homeland Defenders Party has just begun to elect a new president from two candidates: former Minister of Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy and former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ashraf El-Shehy.

The conference is attended by MP Ahmed El-Awady, the first deputy chairman of the party, Ahmed Bahaa Shalaby, head of the party’s parliamentary bloc in the House of Representatives, party MPs, Secretary-General Tarek Nasir, and Organization Secretary Ahmed El-Atifi.

The conference activities started with wide participation from party leaders, senior members, and representatives from various governorates.

The event began with the playing of the national anthem, marking the start of a pivotal moment in the party’s journey.

Following the anthem, a film was screened documenting the party’s journey since its founding under the leadership of General Jalal Al-Haridi in 2013.

General Jalal Al-Haridi, president of the Homeland Defenders Party and member of the Senate, passed away last January at the age of 96.

After his death, the first deputy chairman of the party, Ahmed El-Awady, took over managing the party until a new president is chosen.
