British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper described Israel’s ban on essential food products and medical aid to the Gaza Strip as a “moral shame”.

Cooper stated at a conference held by the Labour Party in Liverpool on Monday that the UK has recognized the State of Palestine as one of the countries supporting the two-state solution.

She said, “Statehood is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people, and our decision to recognize the State of Palestine reflects our belief that the only path to lasting security and peace for Israelis and Palestinians is two states living side by side.”

She confirmed that the UK is working with its partners worldwide to achieve a ceasefire, lasting peace, and the two-state solution.

She added, “Countries from around the world emphasize the urgent need to end the unbearable suffering of children facing starvation, tortured prisoners and their families due to Israeli security forces blocking food entry.”

She continued, “The Israeli government must end the moral shame of preventing food, water, and medicine from entering, an act causing human losses that conscience cannot accept.”

She concluded, “Palestinian civilians should not live another day in fear and hunger; no family should suffer another loss. Enough. We cannot waste another moment; the time for peace has come.”

With US support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 66,055 Palestinian deaths and 168,346 injuries, mostly children and women, and famine has claimed 442 lives including 147 children.
