Israel’s Prime Minister today apologized to the State of Qatar for the Israeli attack targeting the Qatari capital, Doha, earlier this September.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its website that the apology came during a phone call made by U.S. President Donald Trump with both the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The ministry explained that Netanyahu confirmed during the call his commitment not to repeat any targeting of Qatari territory in the future, while the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister stressed their firm rejection of any violation of Qatar’s sovereignty under any circumstances, considering the protection of citizens and residents an absolute priority.
The Qatari minister also praised the U.S. efforts and the guarantees provided to prevent the recurrence of Israeli aggression, pointing to his country’s readiness to continue engaging in efforts aimed at ending the war on the Gaza Strip within the initiative proposed by President Trump, consistent with Qatar’s steady approach to resolving crises through diplomatic means and supporting regional stability.
Israel had launched an airstrike on September 9 targeting a residential neighborhood in Doha housing offices of Hamas. The attack received widespread Arab and international condemnation as it violated Qatar’s sovereignty and flagrantly breached international law and charters.
