Expressen newspaper quoted the Swedish Ministry of Defense spokesperson Johan Ylmstrand saying, “The work on studying the supply issue is still ongoing, and we have no new information in this regard.”

Ylmstrand clarified that Sweden is only considering the possibility of supply, emphasizing that “Stockholm has not made any decision to approve sending fighters to Ukraine yet.”

Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Gavrilyuk announced on Sunday plans to supply Ukraine with American F-16 jets, French Mirage jets, in addition to Swedish JAS-39 Gripen fighters.

Last May, Russian Ambassador to Stockholm Sergey Beljav stated that Sweden is ready to reconsider supplying Ukraine with JAS-39 Gripen fighters, although the process was temporarily halted.

Moscow has repeatedly stressed that Western arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement and directly drag NATO countries into the conflict, describing it as “playing with fire.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also pointed out that NATO is directly involved in the confrontation not only by sending equipment and weapons but also by training personnel in the territories of the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
