Um Jamal said her husband needs intensive chemotherapy sessions and medications costing 257,872 AED to treat brain cancer, but the family’s income does not allow them to cover the amount. She appeals to kind-hearted people to help as her husband’s life is at risk.

The wife told “Emarat Al Youm” that her 37-year-old husband suffered a severe headache last May that lasted a week, causing him to lose consciousness multiple times, along with blurred vision and loss of balance.

She added that she took him to a nearby private hospital where he underwent urgent medical procedures. Later CT scans showed a tumor in the head, and the doctor advised transferring him to a government hospital.

She continued, “I immediately took him to the emergency department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where tests, analyses, and CT scans were repeated. After the results appeared, the specialist confirmed a large brain tumor and the urgent need for surgery to remove it.”

She added that the medical team explained after the surgery that the tumor was located in a complex and sensitive area of the brain, which prevented complete removal. Only part of it was removed, while the rest was left to avoid serious complications that could threaten her husband’s life.

She said biopsy results showed it was a malignant grade four tumor. The doctor emphasized the urgent need for a treatment plan and starting intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions, as stage four brain cancer is one of the most difficult stages, requiring precise medical care, continuous patient monitoring, and psychological and moral support from the family.

She said, “My husband stayed in the hospital bed for 30 days to receive treatment and medical care. Insurance covered chemotherapy sessions and hospital stay. When his condition improved, the doctor advised weekly follow-ups and regular medication. However, recently, CT scans showed an increase in the size of the remaining tumor, which caused us great fear and anxiety for his life.”

The wife added, “The doctor advised starting chemotherapy, which costs 257,872 AED, but our financial situation is very difficult. I am the sole provider for my family of three children, and my salary is 15,000 AED, which goes to school fees, rent, a bank installment, and medications not covered by health insurance.” She appeals to kind-hearted people to help cover her husband’s treatment cost before the disease takes his life.
