The patient (Abu Othman – Somali – 65 years old) has been suffering from cancer for months and urgently needs chemotherapy and radiation therapy sessions at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi to control his disease. However, the expiration of his health insurance prevents him from receiving treatment.

The patient needs 8,673 dirhams to renew his insurance card, but his financial situation does not allow him to secure this amount.

Abu Othman appealed to kind-hearted people to extend a helping hand so he can pay the cost of renewing his health insurance card before it is too late.

Medical reports issued by Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital, obtained by “Emarat Al Youm,” stated that the patient was admitted to the emergency department due to a tumor in the lower abdomen. After conducting medical tests and analyses, it was found that he suffers from prostate cancer and needs chemotherapy and radiation therapy as soon as possible, in addition to imaging, tests, and medical follow-up to remove the cancer and prevent its recurrence.

Abu Othman recounted that a few months ago, he experienced difficulty urinating with blood, a fever, a tumor, and severe pain in the lower abdomen. He went to a private clinic in Abu Dhabi, where the doctor prescribed some medications and painkillers, but they were ineffective because the pain did not stop.

He added: “I went to another clinic and explained my symptoms to the doctor, who decided to conduct certain tests and analyses to check my health condition. When the results appeared, he told me there was a possibility that I had a tumor in the prostate and advised me to visit Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital.”

He said: “I went directly to the emergency department and told the doctor I had a tumor in the lower abdomen and gave him the existing medical reports. However, he requested to repeat the tests and analyses, and it was confirmed that I indeed suffer from prostate cancer and need chemotherapy and radiation therapy as soon as possible, in addition to imaging, tests, and continuous medical follow-up.”

The patient continued that his health insurance has expired, and he needs 8,763 dirhams to renew it, but his financial situation is deteriorating while cancer threatens his life. He expressed fear of delay in receiving the required treatment.

He explained that he works in a commercial store with a salary of 3,000 dirhams and is the sole provider for his family of four. His modest salary barely covers basic living expenses and rent.

Abu Othman said: “The disease threatens my life, but I hold on to hope based on what my doctor said and that I can control the cancer if I adhere to the treatment. However, my problem is that I cannot afford the cost of renewing my health insurance.”

He appealed to kind-hearted people to help him face the malignant disease and save his life before he loses hope of continuing his treatment journey.
