The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center has reinforced its leadership in preventive heart medicine through the comprehensive periodic screening program “Efhas,” which represents an advanced model of preventive medicine supported by artificial intelligence and big data. This establishes a smart health system capable of responding efficiently and effectively to the community’s health needs and future challenges, coinciding with World Heart Day.

“Efhas” has recorded remarkable growth, benefiting more than 140,000 people from early cardiovascular screenings since the program’s launch, achieving a 40% increase compared to last year. The program allows holders of the “Thiqa” card aged 18 to 75 to undergo screening once every three years, including key vital indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, HbA1c, kidney function, and body mass index. Based on the results, cases showing risk factors are referred to specialized doctors for early treatment and support, contributing to reducing complications and protecting lives.

This year, the “Efhas” program scope was expanded to include reproductive health screenings for men and women aged 20 to 35, memory tests for those over 50, and clinical breast examinations for a younger age group between 20 and 39. Additionally, advanced eye tests through retinal imaging and consultations with eye specialists were added, alongside tests such as complete blood count and mental health support for early detection of anxiety and depression. The results feed into a comprehensive health record and smart dashboards for risk prediction, enabling precise and effective preventive interventions.
