On Monday, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul described the peace proposal presented by US President Donald Trump to end the Gaza war as a “unique opportunity” that brings hope to hundreds of thousands suffering in the Gaza Strip.

Wadephul said in Berlin, “This proposal has given hope to hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents suffering from intense fighting, harsh captivity, and indescribable humanitarian suffering. Finally, there is hope for Israelis and Palestinians for a possible end to this war soon.”

The Foreign Minister called on the Palestinian Hamas movement to accept the plan and urged anyone with influence over it to pressure Hamas to act. He said, “This opportunity must not be wasted. Hamas must seize it.”

Wadephul praised Trump’s involvement, affirming Germany’s readiness to support the plan. He added, “Together with our American, Arab, and European partners, we share a common goal: lasting security for the State of Israel and a political vision for the Palestinians.” The Foreign Minister also expressed hope that the proposal would open the door for a broader reconciliation process in the Middle East.

He also announced plans to travel to the region over the weekend.
