Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held an extensive meeting today with the Grocery and Foodstuff Traders Division and the Business Facilitation Committee of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Giza. The meeting was attended by Ahmed El-Wakeel, President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Engineer Osama El-Shahed, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board, Dr. Alaa Ezz, Secretary-General of the Federation, members of the board, and ministry leaders.
From the ministry side, participants included Major General Walid Abu El-Magd, Deputy Minister, Mr. Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Holding Company for Food Industries, Dr. Alaa Nagi, CEO of the Holding Company, along with the Minister’s assistants Dr. Ahmed Kamal (official spokesperson), Hossam El-Garahi (control affairs), Ahmed Essam (political communication and parliamentary affairs), and Sara El-Azazy (Head of the Central Administration for the Minister’s Office Affairs).
The Minister emphasized the government’s keenness to listen to the demands and opinions of supply traders and the outlets of the “Gamaety” project, and to identify the main challenges facing their work. He stressed that the ministry is working on practical solutions to ensure the continuous availability of basic commodities at reasonable prices for citizens while preserving the rights and interests of traders.
Farouk added that partnership and coordination with chambers of commerce and traders represent a fundamental pillar for market regulation and achieving balance between supply and demand. He pointed out that the political leadership’s directives are clear regarding supporting and developing the supply system to meet citizens’ needs, confirming the continuation of such field meetings in governorates to enhance direct communication channels and solve problems faster.
Engineer Osama El-Shahed, Chairman of the Giza Chamber of Commerce, praised the Minister’s keenness on direct communication with traders, considering the meeting a reflection of the state’s interest in supporting the commercial sector and overcoming obstacles facing its workers.
Ahmed El-Wakeel, President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, confirmed that the federation is fully committed to serving the state’s plan to develop the supply and commercial system, noting that the close cooperation between the federation and the ministry represents a successful model to face global economic challenges, ensure market stability, and protect consumers.
Dr. Sherif Farouk concluded the meeting by appreciating the role of traders in securing goods for citizens, stressing that the ministry will continue to support them in facing any challenges, with ongoing coordination to ensure market discipline and the availability of basic commodities.
