Since dawn Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army has killed 50 Palestinians, including a mother and her six children, and injured others in various attacks on the Gaza Strip, while its vehicles retreated from Al-Jalaa Street in central Gaza City.
This is part of the genocidal war that Israel has been waging for nearly two years, as well as its efforts to occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace Palestinians.
Medical sources and witnesses told Anadolu that the attacks targeted inhabited homes, tents sheltering displaced people, civilian gatherings, and humanitarian aid recipients.
In the latest attacks, the Israeli occupation army killed four Palestinians and injured 20 others after shelling a civilian gathering north of Al-Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.
Earlier Tuesday, the death toll was 46 Palestinians before rising to 50.
North of the Strip
In northern Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks on Gaza City resulted in the martyrdom of 16 Palestinians.
One Palestinian was killed and others injured in Israeli shelling on Al-Shati camp west of the city.
In the Al-Tuffah neighborhood (east), two Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling of the Al-Mashahara area, with no further details on the targeting.
Israeli fighter jets also raided the home of the Al-Jarjawi family near Al-Shawa Square in the same area.
In the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood southeast of the city, five Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling targeting a civilian gathering.
In the Al-Daraj neighborhood (east), four Palestinians were martyred and others injured in Israeli shelling targeting two homes near Al-Sayyid Hashim Mosque.
In central Gaza City, three Palestinians were killed in shelling near Palestine Stadium, with no further details.
Another Palestinian was killed in Gaza City following an Israeli airstrike with unknown details.
South of the city, Israeli fighter jets launched three raids near Al-Maghrabi Street in the Al-Sabra neighborhood.
During the night, the Israeli army continued artillery shelling on Al-Shati camp and Al-Nasr neighborhood (west), while fighter jets carried out heavy raids on Al-Sabra neighborhood.
On the ground, Israeli army vehicles retreated from Al-Jalaa Street (near Al-Zaharna junction) in central Gaza City, which they had unexpectedly advanced into Monday evening.
Al-Zaharna junction is a vital and central location, situated mid-way along Al-Jalaa Street, which connects the north and south of the city.
It is also a main artery for civilian movement, ambulance teams, and supplies, despite the extensive destruction it has suffered during the genocidal war.
On September 16, the Israeli army announced the start of a “wide ground operation” involving regular and reserve forces from brigades 98, 162, and 36.
On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to gradually occupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City, home to about one million Palestinians.
Central Strip
In central Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 25 Palestinians and injuries to others, according to medical sources.
A Palestinian mother and her six children were killed and others injured in shelling targeting the home of the Al-Baz family west of Deir al-Balah city.
In Al-Nuseirat camp, an unspecified number of Palestinians were injured in Israeli shelling targeting the home of the Arandas family.
The Israeli army also shelled the western gate of Al-Awda Hospital in Al-Nuseirat camp, injuring five Palestinians, including two hospital workers.
In Al-Bureij camp, Israeli artillery shelled the home of the Al-Qarinawei family in Block 7 area.
Near the Nitzarim axis, 18 Palestinians were killed and 33 others injured by Israeli gunfire near the US-Israeli distribution center for aid recipients.
Since May 27, Tel Aviv has implemented a mechanism for distributing aid through the “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation,” which Palestinians call “death traps,” operating outside UN and international relief organizations’ supervision.
The Israeli army has targeted aid recipients at distribution points, causing thousands of casualties, including deaths and injuries.
South of the Strip
In southern Gaza Strip, Israeli attacks killed five Palestinians, according to medical sources.
Three Palestinians (a father, his pregnant wife, and their child) were killed in shelling targeting a tent sheltering displaced people near Al-Attar station in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis city.
Also in Khan Younis, a Palestinian was killed in Israeli shelling near the Moza junction, while the Al-Katiba area witnessed intermittent artillery shelling.
Another Palestinian was martyred due to ongoing Israeli shelling in southern areas, with no further details available.
With US support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 66,097 martyrs and 168,536 injured, mostly children and women, and a famine that claimed the lives of 453 Palestinians, including 150 children.
Israel has occupied Palestine and lands in Syria and Lebanon for decades, refusing to withdraw and to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.
