A new medical study has shown that “turmeric” may be an effective means to help diabetic patients control their weight and reduce some complications associated with the disease. The study focused on monitoring a group of patients who incorporated turmeric or its dietary supplements into their daily routines, revealing that the active ingredient known as curcumin has positive effects on fat burning rates and blood sugar regulation.
According to a new study from the University of Tehran, participants who continued consuming turmeric for a specific period showed a significant decrease in body mass index and visceral fat levels compared to others. Researchers confirm that turmeric also enhances the body’s insulin sensitivity, helping to regulate sugar levels more efficiently, in addition to its ability to reduce inflammation that increases the risk of diabetic complications.
Although the results appear promising, the study emphasized that turmeric use should complement healthy diets and exercise, not replace medications or medical consultations, to ensure sustainable and safe outcomes.
