The economic and trade relations between Bahrain and Egypt continue to develop steadily, with the approval of 15 initiatives and 13 memoranda of understanding to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. Egypt’s exports to Bahrain amount to $250 million, including food, furniture, and clothing, while Bahrain’s imports from Egypt also reach $250 million, mainly petroleum and chemical products.

The two countries work to increase trade exchange and encourage investment through trade delegations and participation in exhibitions, exploring wider cooperation opportunities in financial services, technology, and the environment. The economic relations include over 200 Egyptian companies operating in Bahrain in construction, technology, and financial services, and about 120 Bahraini companies in Egypt contributing to real estate, tourism, and industry sectors.

An Egyptian commercial center was established in Bahrain to facilitate business and trade exchange, and the Authorized Economic Operator program was mutually approved to ease customs clearance. The joint committee emphasizes the private sector’s role as a key driver for joint investment, with plans to hold a joint economic forum to explore future investment opportunities.

The trade volume between the two countries reached approximately $661.4 million in 2024, with Bahraini investments in Egypt focusing on finance, industry, construction, agriculture, tourism, and IT, while Egyptian investments in Bahrain concentrate on real estate and tourism.

Both countries seek to strengthen economic partnership through political and economic initiatives aimed at creating an attractive investment environment, removing barriers to market access, and encouraging investment and bilateral trade, thereby supporting sustainable development, creating jobs, and increasing national income.
