Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev announced during his participation in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok that Rosneft signed an agreement with Chinese partners to supply an additional 2.5 million tons of crude oil via Kazakhstan.

In an interview with Russia 24 TV channel, the minister commented on the results of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China, confirming the signing of the agreement.

Earlier in May, the Russian government issued a decision allowing an increase in the maximum oil supplies to refineries in western China from 10 to 12.5 million tons, extending the supply period until 2034 at the latest.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak commented on this decision, explaining that the Chinese side initiated the request for increased supplies, and Russia is ready to meet this demand.

The tenth edition of the Eastern Economic Forum kicked off yesterday in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far East, with wide international and local participation. The event runs until September 6 under the slogan “Far East… Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.”
