The child Mohammad Nour, a nine-year-old Syrian boy, has been suffering from type 1 diabetes for a month. According to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi, the patient requires medications, treatment, and continuous follow-ups for a year at the hospital, costing 41,683 AED. His father appeals for help to cover the treatment costs.
The boy’s father told Emarat Al Youm: “I came to the country to work 15 years ago and was blessed with five children. About a month ago, my son Mohammad was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He was unable to stand on his feet, drank excessive water, and frequently used the bathroom. Upon noticing these symptoms, I took him to a nearby clinic where he was tested twice: once fasting with a blood sugar level of 400, and once after eating with a level of 530.”
He added: “My son was transferred to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi and admitted to the emergency department. Necessary tests and medical analyses were conducted, and the treating doctor confirmed he has type 1 diabetes. Due to his severe health condition, he stayed in the hospital under medical observation for three days. The doctor confirmed that my son needs injections, medications, treatment, and continuous follow-up in specialized clinics, emphasizing the importance of treatment to avoid life-threatening complications.”
He continued: “The treatment cost for my son is 41,683 AED for a full year, which exceeds my financial capabilities. I am the sole provider for my family of five children and a wife, working in a private sector job with a salary of 3,426 AED, which goes towards living expenses.”
He added: “I have applied to charitable organizations before but received no response. I do not know how to secure the treatment amount my sick son needs, so I appeal to kind-hearted people to help me cover the treatment costs for my diabetic son.”
The child’s father:
