Washington, September 3, 2025 (WAL) – US President Donald Trump announced that he is closely monitoring the developments of the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv, indicating that he may take specific actions in the coming days without revealing details.
Trump said in a press statement during a White House conference:
“We will see what happens. I am following this file closely, and we will see how the concerned parties act.”
The US president hinted at potential consequences if a direct meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky does not take place, saying:
“If they do not meet, there will be consequences, that is certain.”
When asked about the possibility of Washington taking certain steps regarding the crisis, Trump replied:
“I have learned things that will be very interesting, and I think you will know more in the coming days.”
Trump declined to disclose whether he had recently communicated with Putin, only affirming his desire to end the conflict, saying:
“I want this conflict to stop. That is what I am striving for.”
Previously, in an interview with “The Daily Caller” published on August 30, Trump expressed confidence in the possibility of holding a trilateral summit involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, but he clarified that he does not know if Putin will agree to meet Zelensky.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on August 27 that Russia still prefers to resolve the Ukrainian conflict through political and diplomatic means, but noted that “achieving this goal requires reciprocity from the Ukrainian side.”
