Abu Suhail, a 75-year-old Palestinian man, suffers from kidney and pancreatic cancer and urgently needs medical tests and surgery due to his deteriorating health and the spread of the disease. The cost of the medical tests and surgery is 39,000 AED, but his poor financial situation prevents him from covering the treatment expenses.
The patient appealed to charitable people for urgent help with the surgery costs because of the disease’s spread and his poor health condition.
Abu Suhail told “Emarat Al Youm” that his illnesses began in 2013 when he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He was admitted to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, where necessary tests and a biopsy confirmed cancer in one of his kidneys.
He added, “The doctor decided to remove the entire kidney, and the surgery was performed in 2014. My condition remained stable for years, and I did not experience a relapse until 2021, when I felt severe pain and was hospitalized. Tests showed the disease had spread to the fourth rib of my chest, so part of the tumor was removed. The doctor prescribed chemotherapy, which I continued for three years. My health gradually improved, and I regularly visited specialized clinics for routine tests to ensure the disease had not spread. However, last year during a hospital visit, it was discovered that the disease had affected my second kidney. I underwent surgery to remove only the tumor to preserve the kidney.”
He continued, “My health deteriorated significantly this year, and I was admitted again to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. Tests confirmed a suspected spread of cancer to the pancreas. The doctor confirmed that I urgently need tests and surgery to remove the tumor, costing 39,000 AED, which is a large amount compared to my family’s modest financial capabilities.”
He explained that he has a son working in the private sector earning 15,000 AED, who supports a family with children and has outstanding bank obligations. He also has a daughter working in a private hospital earning 3,000 AED. He added, “My family cannot afford this amount as it exceeds their limited financial means.”
He appealed to kind-hearted people and philanthropists to help cover the urgent surgery costs he needs.
