US Defense Secretary Pete Higgsith said on Wednesday that military operations against those smuggling drugs will not stop with the strike that targeted a ship coming from Venezuela on Tuesday.
Higgsith added in statements to Fox News, “We have assets in the air, assets on the water, and assets on board ships, because this is a very dangerous mission for us, and it will not stop at this strike alone.”
He continued, “Anyone else smuggling in those waters and known to be a designated drug terrorist will face the same fate.”
US President Donald Trump said the US military killed 11 people on Tuesday in an attack on a ship from Venezuela said to be carrying drugs, marking the first known operation since his administration recently deployed warships in the southern Caribbean Sea.
