Riyadh: Issa Al-Hakami

The Saudi Football Federation issued a series of decisions on Wednesday following directives from Abdulaziz Al-Faisal, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, after the conclusion of the Super Cup and subsequent judicial committee rulings following Al-Qadsiah Club’s protest.

The decisions were as follows:

    • Dismissal of Ibrahim Al-Qasim from his position as Secretary General of the Federation.
    • Appointment of Samir Al-Mohamadi as the new Secretary General of the Saudi Football Federation.
    • Activation of the General Secretariat’s role in judicial committees to directly supervise the administrative work of the secretariat for all judicial committees.
    • Creation of a new position titled Secretary of Judicial Committees to support and develop the judicial committees.

The Saudi Football Federation Board emphasized its respect for the decisions issued by the independent judicial committees and the rights of all parties to pursue legal channels before judicial committees of various levels or the Sports Arbitration Center according to relevant regulations.

It is noted that on August 23, the Appeals Committee of the Saudi Football Federation issued a decision considering Al-Hilal as having lost 0-3 to Al-Qadsiah due to Al-Hilal’s withdrawal from the tournament after the schedule was issued. Additionally, Al-Hilal was banned from participating in the next knockout tournament last season, barred from the upcoming Super Cup edition, and fined 500,000 Saudi Riyals in a decision subject to appeal. This led Al-Qadsiah Club to demand the right to play the final match directly without playing Al-Ahli in the semi-final, which Al-Ahli won 5-1 before claiming the title against Al-Nassr.

Following these decisions, Prince Abdulaziz Al-Faisal issued an order to open an investigation into all events surrounding the Super Cup and to issue decisions promptly.
