Beijing, September 1, 2025 (WAL) – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on Monday called for rejecting blocs and enhancing cooperation against terrorism within a strategic vision until 2035, and preserving the historical memory of the heroic deeds of peoples and lessons from World War II. The summit was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and more than 20 world leaders.

A statement issued by the organization warned of escalating geopolitical confrontations and challenges and threats to global security and stability.

It emphasized the principles of non-interference in internal affairs and the non-use of force as the foundation for sustainable development of international relations.

The statement confirmed that the member states are committed to a path that excludes bloc approaches and confrontation in solving international development issues, noting the adoption of the organization’s development strategy until 2035, which defines priority tasks.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms, affirming the continuation of joint struggle against terrorism, separatism, and extremism.

The SCO is a regional political, economic, and security alliance established in 2001, including major countries such as China, Russia, and several Central Asian states. It aims to enhance joint cooperation, combat terrorism and extremism, and counter Western influence, especially American hegemony, by supporting multilateralism and rejecting interference in the internal affairs of states.
