The non-profit Reef Foundation, working alongside the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, has managed assets valued at 62 million Saudi Riyals and benefited 7,282 individuals through its programs. It has implemented 476 developmental projects and signed 39 strategic partnerships with entities supporting sustainable rural development.
The foundation focuses on empowering farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and artisans, in addition to supporting agricultural processing industries.
The foundation offers various agricultural services, including capacity building for individuals such as training and qualifying small farmers in project management, financial management, and marketing, as well as technical and advisory capacity building according to the beneficiary’s field. It also provides operational and production process improvements by supplying small farmers with equipment, machinery, and devices related to their projects to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Among the individual services are those for practitioners of agricultural processing industries, including craftsmen relying on agricultural, animal, and aquatic inputs, as well as rural craft practitioners, including productive rural families dependent on agricultural, animal, and aquatic inputs. Applications for these services can be submitted through the foundation’s website.
Farmers told Al Riyadh that the foundation’s programs align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, aimed at enhancing rural development and achieving self-sufficiency. They confirmed that these programs were not merely financial support or temporary initiatives but represented a qualitative shift in their professional and daily lives, helping them adopt modern agricultural methods, reduce production costs through training and technical support, and providing opportunities to market their products locally and regionally.
The Reef Foundation is a non-profit entity with legal personality, aiming to work alongside the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture to achieve sustainable rural development goals, support, develop, and enhance the capabilities of farmers, agricultural craftsmen, and productive rural families. The foundation also seeks to stimulate and increase the capacities of community entities within its specializations and promote a culture of volunteer work within rural development sectors according to best global practices. Its vision is to establish a pioneering model to enhance the sustainability of small farmers, artisans, and productive families in Saudi rural areas, and its mission is to build the capacities of small farmers, artisans, and productive rural families through developmental solutions characterized by the collaboration of stakeholders.
