President Mozar stated, “The world has judged the perpetrators of the Srebrenica massacre, yet today we find those who defend and accept the genocide in Gaza,” clearly highlighting the stark contrast in international stances toward fundamentally similar war crimes.
She added that the world “condemned the October 7 attack, but we find no consensus when it comes to those living in Gaza,” criticizing the lack of unified position on the suffering of Palestinians under bombardment and siege.
Europe did not escape her sharp criticism, as she expressed deep regret over the silence of some politicians, saying, “Politicians in the European Union are not moving despite the official declaration of famine in Gaza city and its surroundings.”
She continued with a reproachful question: “It seems Europe has forgotten that human rights and dignity matter everywhere in the world.”
The Slovenian president’s statements add to her country’s advanced stance, which included recognizing the State of Palestine and imposing sanctions on occupation ministers, positioning Slovenia as a bold conscience within the EU calling for justice and an end to the catastrophe in Gaza.
