A video posted by an Algerian nurse on the TikTok platform sparked widespread controversy after she filmed the preparation of a deceased man’s body inside a government hospital in the capital, Algiers.

The video, which was widely circulated on social media platforms, provoked angry reactions describing the behavior as “inhumane” and “unethical,” given the healthcare sector’s obligation to respect the sanctity of the dead and preserve their dignity.

Following the uproar caused by the video, Algerian health authorities announced the immediate suspension of the nurse involved and the opening of an administrative investigation into the case.
