Four drug and arms dealers were killed and others arrested following a shootout with police forces in the governorates of Minya, Assiut, and Qena.

Information and investigations by the Public Security and Anti-Narcotics and Unlicensed Weapons Sectors, in coordination with relevant ministry agencies, confirmed that criminal cells in several governorates, including highly dangerous criminal elements, attempted to smuggle quantities of narcotics and unlicensed firearms for trafficking purposes.

They were tracked and targeted in coordination with the Central Security Sector, resulting in the death of four highly dangerous criminals sentenced to prison and life imprisonment for crimes including murder, attempted murder, drugs, armed robbery, and firearms offenses in Minya, Assiut, and Qena. Other members of these cells were arrested, with approximately 398 kilograms of various drugs (hashish, methamphetamine, heroin, hydro), some drug tablets, and 84 firearms (18 automatic rifles, 37 shotguns, 21 single-barrel shotguns, 8 pistols) seized.

The estimated value of the seized narcotics is about 59 million Egyptian pounds. Legal procedures were taken for each case and referred to the prosecution for investigation.
