Major General Emad Kedwany, Governor of Minya, assigned Dr. Mohamed Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor, and Dr. Mohamed Anis, Secretary-General of the governorate, to follow up on the aftermath of a bus overturn accident in Samalut center, which resulted in 8 deaths and 14 injuries.

The Deputy Governor followed up at the accident site in Samalut city on the procedures for handing over the bodies, where 5 bodies were handed over from Samalut Model Hospital and 3 bodies from the One-Day Hospital. He directed to expedite procedures and provide necessary support to the victims’ families, in addition to monitoring the condition of the injured inside the hospital.

In the same context, the Secretary-General of the governorate moved to Minya University Hospital to check on the remaining injured, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Hassanein, Director of University Hospitals, and Dr. Marwa Ismail, Deputy Director of the Health Directorate, to ensure the provision of necessary medical care without delay.

The governorate’s operations room received a report of the accident caused by the overturn of a bus belonging to the “EG Bus” company on the old Eastern Desert Road (Army Road), near the entrance to the Al-Bustan area affiliated with Samalut center.

Governor of Minya confirmed that he is following the situation moment by moment in coordination with all concerned authorities, stressing the provision of full medical care to the injured and facilitating their families in completing official procedures.

He also expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, praying to God to have mercy on the deceased, grant patience and solace to their families, and grant a speedy recovery to the injured.
