Five former leaders of the Ministry of Interior topped the list of appointees to the Senate, as part of the presidential decree issued by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to appoint a number of public figures and experts. This move aims to complete the formation of the second chamber of parliament, reflecting the political, intellectual, and societal balance of the Egyptian state.

The list included Major General Mostafa Baz, Major General Essam El-Ezab, Major General Emad Siam, Major General Bahaa El-Din Zaghloul, and Major General Al-Hassan Abbas, all of whom have distinguished professional records in security work and have previously held influential positions within the Ministry of Interior sectors.

Major General Essam El-Ezab is a prominent name in the economic security sector, having served as Assistant Minister of Interior and previously led the General Department of Supply Investigations. He also played a pivotal role in the “We Are All One” initiative, which helped alleviate burdens on citizens and achieved tangible social success. He gained extensive field experience through his work in the capital’s investigations, especially in the Azbakeya, Boulaq, and Kasr El Nile districts, progressing to head the West Cairo Investigation Sector.

Major General Mostafa Baz is known for his long history in the criminal security sector, having served as Director of Security in Gharbia before being appointed Assistant Minister of Interior for the Prisons Sector, where he led a comprehensive development process for reform and rehabilitation centers.

Major General Al-Hassan Abbas has broad experience in public security, having served in several security directorates, most notably Sohag, and achieved notable successes in combating public morality crimes.

Major General Bahaa El-Din Zaghloul is one of the security leaders who held important positions in national security, transport police, and waterways, in addition to his work in the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Interior, which gave him extensive administrative and organizational experience.

Major General Emad Siam is a prominent leader who progressed through many positions until he reached the post of Assistant Minister of Interior for Security and is regarded as one of the distinguished security competencies with a professional school of thought.

These appointments reflect the state’s direction to benefit from the expertise of former security leaders in parliamentary work, enhancing the role of the Senate in supporting public policies and legislation related to security and society.
