The Egyptian stock exchange had risen noticeably on Sunday, reaching a new historic level.

The main EGX 30 index rose by 1.4%, reaching 36,166.1 points, surpassing the previous record of 36,109 points.

This record level came after sideways movements between 35,000 and 36,000 points for over four weeks following several record peaks in a short period.

The stock exchange fluctuated daily between rises and falls for about three weeks.

Last week, the Egyptian stock exchange rose by less than 1%, nearly offsetting Thursday’s decline of about 0.77%, and lost 0.76% over the five sessions despite a notable rise on Wednesday.

With today’s increase, the main index’s gains since the beginning of the year reach 22.4%.
